Children’s Sunday Funday

Children’s Sunday Funday is held in Civray on the 4th Sunday of each month at The Open Door drop-in centre, 18, rue Pierre Pestureau from 10.30 a.m. until 12.00 noon. The next Sunday Funday is on Sunday 26th February 2012.

This is a morning of activities usually themed around a bible story, for young children between the ages of 3 and 10 years old.

The Shoestring Band who played at Ambernac last year are going to be with us at La Rochefoucauld on Sunday March 25th. The service will start at 11 am instead of 10h30 and will be followed by apèritifs and a Bring and Share lunch.

Do please join us for what promises to be a very special event for Passion Sunday. A contribution to the food table would be welcome, and of course remember your own knife, fork spoon and plates!

Shoestring are a well established Ceilidh and Covers band, The band has played in many of Scotland’s top Venues including being the Hogmanay band for Cameron House Hotel on a number of occasions.

A Hymnathon to raise funds for the Mother’s Union projects for families and children, will take place in three venues across the Chaplaincy simultaneoulsy from 10.30 am on Sunday 29th April 2012.

We do hope you will join us again this year in this very enjoyable event.

The theme of this years Worldwide day of prayer is ‘Let Justice Prevail’. Please see details of a number of events both in the Chaplaincy and with our French sister Churches .

Mission Lèpre – Leprosy Mission – For a world without Leprosy

Mr Yohanna Abdou, director of the RIBA project at health and leprosy centre in Danja will be with us in the Charente Maritime on  Saturday 14th January 2012 at 16h 00 at the Temple de Saintes, 2 cours Reverseaux, Saintes 17100. He will give a presentation of the RIBA project in French.

Licensing of Rev Hazel Door

The Licensing of Hazel as Chaplain of the Chaplaincy of the Good Shepherd will take place at St Nicholas’ Church in Civray on Saturday 28 January at 11h 00.  We hope as many as possible will attend the service.

This is to be followed by a simple buffet reception. Officers of the Chaplaincy, the Ministry Team and representative of every congregation and home group have been invited, along with representatives of other Churches. We regret that numbers have had to be limited in this way because it proved impossible to find a venue close enough to Civray for any other kind of event.  We also regret that incorrect information has been circulated.

The  Chaplaincy prayer vigil begins at midnight on Sunday the 22^nd until midnight on Monday the 23^rd of January.  The week of prayer for Christian unity begins on the 18^th of January and ends on the 25^th. The theme this year is WE WILL ALL BE CHANGED. Change is at the heart of our Christian Faith.Saint Paul said that everyone who is in Christ is a new creation and we are called to live as Children in the light.

 The theme for the week of prayer for Christian unity 2012 comes to us from the Churches in Poland. They have reflected upon their own experience as a nation and in particular how as a nation they have been changed and transformed by the many upheavals of their history and sustained by their faith.

 Change is at the heart of the ecumenical movement. When we pray for the unity of the Church we are praying that the Churches that we know and which are so familiar to us will change as they move more closely to Christ. This is an exciting vision, but also a challenging one. Furthermore, when we pray for this transforming unity we are also praying for a change in the world.

 As our Chaplaincy is undergoes change the theme for this year seems very pertinent. More details of resources available for the week can be found on the Christian unity website. Please consider signing up for an hour on the 23rd January  you can pray, read your Bible or just have a time of quiet contemplation.
