An Overview
The Chaplaincy was created 12 years ago to serve what was then an estimated 25,000 English speakers living in the area. With substantial financial and practical help from the Intercontinental Church Society (ICS) we have grown from small informal home groups to a pastoral district covering an area about the size of Wales.
As the Chaplaincy grew and became more viable the financial support from ICS was tapered off, and we have now been financially independent from ICS for several years.
Unlike a Parish Church in the UK, our Chaplaincy, although being part of the Diocese of Europe, is financially independent of the Church of England, and receives no funding or operating expenses from them, but does have to make an annual contribution to their central funds (6300.00€ in 2011).
Our operating Budget is estimated to be in excess of 91,000.00€ this year, which basically covers Clergy costs, operating expenses, donations to host churches and administration.
Church Collections currently contribute approximately 66% of our income, the balance arising from Fees, Donations and Fundraising.
How can you help?
The Chaplain and Council are seeking to encourage Chaplaincy members and regular visitors to wholly support the Chaplaincy by way of regular giving, so that reliance on fundraising events is reduced – making them more fun all round. For most people regular giving is also a lot more tax-efficient, encourage the Chancellor to help!
If you are still a UK taxpayer and have a UK bank account – please consider making a regular monthly payment via standing order to ICS or the Church of England. By using “Gift Aid”, your donation will be increased by 25% and will mean we have Sterling funds available in the UK. Our Planned-Giving Officer, Jackie James (Tel: 05 45 29 58 91) can supply you with the details you need. (Click on the links at the bottom of the page for Printable forms).
If you are a French taxpayer, please consider making a regular monthly payment by standing order. Our Planned Giving Officer, Jackie James (Tel: 05 45 29 58 91) can then supply you each year with a tax certificate to reclaim the tax on your donations. Alternately, contact Jackie James and join the “Envelope Scheme”, which will also entitle you to a tax certificate.
Last, but not least, if you are updating your Will, do please remember the Chaplaincy.
